Nonviolent social & political change is needed in our society more than ever. The Civil Rights Arts Project remains committed to sharing these historic productions with students of all races and backgrounds throughout America. Our civil rights themed school assemblies have inspired students in over twenty-five U.S. cities toward greater self respect, tolerance and resilience.
THE BIRMINGHAM CHILDREN'S MARCH
Would your school be interested in an assembly that not only enlightens students about the profound impact that children had on the civil rights movement but can also inspires them to transform their lives and communities?

The Birmingham Children's March, an interactive theater experience, is a dramatization of the 1963 events when Dr. Martin Luther King had to enlist children and teenagers to revive his faltering civil rights campaign. This forty minute mass meeting style performance features freedom songs, speeches, testimonies, and character-driven drama, all happening in and around the audience.
Highlights from The Birmingham Children's March
Act I is takes place inside the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church on the morning that the children of Birmingham will face the full force of Bull Connor’s fire hoses and police dogs for the very first time. Act II is also set in the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church a few days after the youth marches have begun. A Birmingham student shares the transformative experience of having participated in the marches.
